The 2nd eDairy Conference and Exhibition is to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, an emerging market, at the heart of Africa, with massive potential for Agribusiness, offering great investment opportunities to delegates and exhibitors. The eDairy Conference and Exhibition 2012, just like the last, is part of an ambitious program encompassing all things ICT, that would in any way contribute to the transformation and modernization of the Dairy industry in Africa, including but not limited to business process reengineering.
And as we prepare for the conference, we are alive to the very successful inaugural conference held in Nairobi in 2010 which triggered a paradigm shift in the way Agriculture is viewed in the eyes of ICT; for the first time, it became clear to many that it was time Africa embraced ICT solutions in agricultural production as a solution to improving efficiency, creating an enabling environment for ecommerce and developing Agribusiness business processes anchored on ICT. At the end of the 2010 event, many were the wiser, having seen and learned what ICT solutions, tools and devises can do to transform the way farming and agribusiness is practiced in modern economies.
Moreover, case studies on-going eDairy projects in Kenya, around which the 2010 conference and exhibition was themed, presented very practical lessons to inform policy interventions. Indeed, for the first time, participants, especially delegates from most African countries understood the reasoning
behind food chain traceability as mechanisms for accessing global markets for agricultural produce.
Besides, various solutions, applications, equipment and concepts were presented, demonstrated and showcased to the over 300 delegates and an estimated 4,000 visitors who visited the three (3) days event at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi. This was an international conference with delegates, speakers and Exhibitors coming from all over the world.
Indeed, it is on this note that we look forward with excitement to eDairy Conference and Exhibition 2012 scheduled for 21-23 March at the SERENA HOTEL Kigali, Rwanda.
